In Amsterdam coffeeshops are open everyday, most close in the wee hours. Although a few close a lot earlier around 23:00.
In AMS it is more expensive than anywhere else in the Netherlands; the positive aspects are the much greater varieties and uber quality weed. It's acceptable to smoke quietly in bars, cafes etc...unless it states it is or has a coffeeshop as well in which case go for your guns! You cannot buy alcoholic drinks in the same place weed is being sold. There are few exceptions to this rule. Usually you can only get hot or soft drinks.
